Trade News: Dodgers Acquire Rich Hill and Josh Reddick for Prospects

Well, the trade deadline is certainly upon us now. After weeks of speculation floating around the league wondering what moves the Los Angeles Dodgers would make, the first domino has fallen.

It was reported by many media outlets that the Dodgers and Oakland Athletics made a trade that will send starting pitcher Rich Hill and outfielder Josh Reddick to the Dodgers in exchange for at least pitchers Frankie Montas, Grant Holmes and Jharrel Cotton.

Dodgers Trade Rumors Central: Who Will Land In LA?

On the surface, this trade seems a bit odd as both Hill and Reddick are unrestricted free agents next offseason and Montas and Holmes have front of the line potential.

However, Hill is in the midst of a career season putting up a 9-3 record with a 2.25 ERA and a 1.09 WHIP. Reddick, when he has played, has put up very solid stats, slashing .296/.368/.449 to go along with 8 HR’s and 28 RBI’s in 68 games.

It would be shocking if this was the only move that the Dodgers made today but we will be updating the situation as more information comes out.
