The Los Angeles Dodgers minor league system has climbed the ranks in recent years, making the future of the franchise look a bit more promising.

Because of their rejuvenated farm system, the Dodgers have been mentioned in a number of trade rumors the past two seasons. Any move is usually centered around the core four of Zach Lee, Joc Pederson, Corey Seager and Julio Urias.

According to Jonathan Mayo of MLB.com, the Dodgers had two of those four prospects honored when Pederson and Seager were named to the MLBPipeline.com First Half All-Prospect team.

To make the list a player had to be on their teams’ respective top-20 prospects list at the start of the season. Seagers’ numbers speak for themselves as the shortstop is hitting .347 with 14 homers and 55 RBIs at Class-A Rancho Cucamonga. The 2012 first round pick was third in the minors in total bases through the first three months of the season. Seager spent some time with the Quakes last season, but struggled to adjust. This season he once again started out slow before an injury slowed him down in May. Since his return, the Dodger prospect has been on an absolute tear that could propel him to Double-A before the end of the season.

Pederson hit .319 with 17 home runs, 42 RBIs and 20 steals through June, while missing a few games with a shoulder injury. The speedy outfielder has become of the the franchise’s biggest prospects rather quickly after a breakout season in 2013. He spent some time with the big league club in the spring and hit three home runs in limited time. Pederson likely would be in the majors if the Dodgers weren’t so crowded in the outfield. He could be a trading chip with the trade deadline nearing and no room on the big league roster.
