Corey Seager, Kenta Maeda, and Dave Roberts Finalists for MLB Awards

Major League Baseball and the Baseball Writers of America Association have announced Los Angeles Dodgers rookies Corey Seager and Kenta Maeda as finalists for the National League Rookie of the Year and name manager Dave Roberts as a finalist for National League Manager of the Year. Seager will be the favorite to win the NL Rookie of the Year, while Roberts will have to compete against Cubs manager Joe Maddon, and Nationals manager Dusty Baker for NL Manger of the Year.

Seager was a consistent force this season leading the team with a .308 batting average, 105 runs, and broke the Dodgers home run record by a shortstop with 26. As a rookie at age 22, Seager did not resemble one. MLB has announced that Seager is a finalist for the NL Most Valuable Player award this season.  As the Dodgers best everyday player this season, Seager’s historic season should without question end with a NL ROY trophy and perhaps the NL MVP.

Get To Know New Dodgers Pitcher: Vidal Nuno

Maeda quietly had a solid year this season finishing 16-11 with a 3.48 ERA with 179 strikeouts. In a pitching rotation that dealt with injuries all season long, Maeda was the only pitcher to never take a trip to the disable list. Although his numbers are not eye popping, the best ability is availability and Maeda was able to deliver quality starts all season long.

In his first season as Dodgers Manager Dave Roberts was able keep the team at the top of the NL West  to a fourth consecutive division title with a Major League Record 28 players on the disable list throughout the season. Loosing Clayton Kershaw during the season due to injury was surely a death sentence to a Dodgers club that was struggling to win games, yet Roberts was able to push all the right buttons and win the Division and make a NLCS appearance.

Corey Seager, Kenta Maeda and Dave Roberts all had amazing seasons, and are all deserving of the major awards they have been nominated for!
