Dodgers And Yasiel Puig React To Stuart Scott’s Death
The sports world was dealt a crushing blow on Sunday with news of the death of ESPN anchor Stuart Scott at the age of 49.
Scott’s personality and flair brought a unique touch to ESPN, and his “Boo-yah!” and “As cool as the other side of the pillow” became popular catchphrases. As word of Scott’s death broke Sunday morning, several colleagues, athletes and other on-air personalities expressed their condolences over the loss.
The Los Angeles Dodgers were among those who shared kind words over Twitter:
The Dodgers offer their condolences to the family, friends and fans of Stuart Scott.

Shortly after, Yasiel Puig offered his condolences to Scott and his family:
#RIP @StuartScott . My condolences to his daughters and all of his family

For as much as Scott was revered for his on-camera work, his influence and inspiration on others far surpasses his decorated career. Scott was diagnosed with cancer in 2007 and battled recurring bouts in the years since.
During each of his relapses, Scott remained strong, defiant and determined to defeat cancer. He also focused on the positives in his life — namely his two daughters, Sydni and Taelor. A lasting memory of the famed anchor came at the 2014 ESPY’s when Scott was presented with the Jimmy V Perseverance Award and gave an awe-inspiring acceptance speech.
“When you die, it does not mean that you lose to cancer,” Scott said. “You beat cancer by how you live, why you live, and in the manner in which you live.” While Scott may have lost to cancer, it wasn’t without putting up a tremendous fight and leaving behind a lasting legacy.
RIP Bro!!
