Dodgers, Andre Ethier Contribute To Union Rescue Mission Makeover

Andre Ethier

Beginning with Andre Ethier visiting the Union Rescue Mission in Los Angeles several years ago to cook hot dogs on the rooftop, evolved into a longstanding relationship that led to Ethier, along with his wife Maggie and the Los Angeles Dodgers becoming heavily involved with the Mission.

In partnership with the Dodgers and the Los Angeles Dodgers Foundation, Andre and Maggie helped contribute to the renovation of the Union Rescue Mission Learning Center. The contributions made brought state of the art technology to the center, new furniture and flooring that resembled what the Dodgers have in their recently-upgraded workout room and clubhouse.

While Ethier has been actively involved in the Los Angeles community, how much longer that will be the case may be uncertain. The Dodgers reportedly were on the verge of trading Ethier to the Diamondbacks and it’s believed they’d still like to move the Arizona native or Carl Crawford.

Ethier was traded to the Dodgers in 2006 and made his Major-League debut that same season. Since that point, his career has included several highs though 2014 was admittedly Ethier’s most challenging year as he was relegated to a role off the bench.

As for the Learning Center, it’s been renamed The Maggie and Andre Ethier Learning Center, as seen in the video below complete with footage of the room’s transformation:
