Dodgers Announce Partnership With Emirates Airlines

In the sports world, there are partnership deals made on a seemingly daily basis all across the globe. It’s no different for the Los Angeles Dodgers after they came to an agreement with Emirates Airline to be their official airline sponsor.

If you’ve never heard of Emirates, don’t feel too bad. However, they are still one of the larger international sponsors in sports as they help sponsor some of the world’s greatest soccer clubs. Namely Arsenal, Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain, and AC Milan.

From the Korea Times about Emirates Airline:

Founded in 1985, Emirates is a global connector of people, places and economies. Based in Dubai, the airline’s global network serves 150 destinations in 80 countries across six continents.

The article goes on to state that Emirates has transported 11 million passengers on United States based flights since the company started going to New York in 2004. But none of that has to do with the Dodgers, I know.

However, Los Angeles is the first major sports team in the United States to be sponsored by Emirates:

“This is a historic partnership as it is Emirates’ first major league team sponsorship in the U.S. We are proud to be the Official Airline partner of the Los Angeles Dodgers, who are an innovative and cutting edge organization not just in the world of baseball, but also in the broader realm of popular sports and culture.

As part of the partnership, Emirates will see their logo pasted on home plate and foul pole signage, as well as having a new Emirates Lounge. That lounge is a “70 person hospitality space for Emirates and guests.”

The Dodgers will also be sponsoring the Dubai Little League All Star Travel Teams, which, as a a result, will now be known as the Dubai Dodgers. This is the start of a great and fruitful partnership between the two sides that should last for years.

Sponsors are a big deal in the world of sports, so for Los Angeles to be the first Major League Baseball team, and first major sports team in the United States, to secure the sponsorship of Emirates Airlines is a fairly big step for them. You’ll see their logo all around the stadium this year.
