Dodgers – Brewers Spring Training Live Game Thread

A Mike Bolsinger is on the hill today for the Los Angeles Dodgers as they take on the Milwaukee Brewers in Arizona. The Dodgers have won three games in a row, and they now stand at 8-2-2 this spring. They trail the Arizona Diamondbacks by one game in the Cactus League standings.

Opposing Los Angeles today will be Wily Peralta, a 26-year old right-hander who finished 2015 with a 4.72 ERA in 108.2 innings. It’s time for Dodgers baseball!

ICYMI: Dodgers Lineup: Justin Turner Makes Spring Debut

FIRST INNING

First pitch from Bolsinger is a strike, and we are underway. Bolsinger gets a strikeout to start the game. He then gets a grounder for the second out. A flyout to center ends the inning, and it’s a 1-2-3 opening frame for Bolsinger. Good stuff.

Micah Johnson leads off the bottom of the first with a single. Always good to see, err hear. Wild pitch sends him to second. Short fly out to right doesn’t advance the runner. Justin Turner with an RBI double! Welcome back, redhead! 1-0 Dodgers. Grounder advances Turner to third, and there’s two outs now. Turner then scores on an infield single by Austin Barnes. 2-0! Guerrero then hits into the shift, but the throw is poor and Barnes advances to third. E-4 on the play. 3-run home run by Trayce Thompson! 5-0 Dodgers! Final out is a flyout to right, but the good guys score five!

SECOND INNING: DODGERS LEAD 5-0

Good play at third by Justin Turner to record the first out. Thompson tracks down a fly ball to center at the warning track for the second out. Final out is a grounder to second, and it’s another 1-2-3 inning for Bolsinger. Six up, six down.

A groundout, a flyout, and a strikeout set the Dodgers down in order in the second. We’re through two.

THIRD INNING: DODGERS LEAD 5-0

Seven up, seven down for Bolsinger after a flyout to right begins the frame. And then a one-out single ends the perfect game bid. A popup goes for the second out. The final out is a flyout to right. Three scoreless for Bolsinger so far.

Turner begins the inning with a walk, and he’s now 1-for-1 with an RBI, run scored, and a walk. He’s backkkkkkk. RBI double for Adrian Gonzalez. 6-0 now! Austin Barnes then goes down swinging. Alex Guerrero then follows suit and does the same. And then Trayce Thompson did the same. We’re through three, and the Dodgers lead by six.

FOURTH INNING: DODGERS LEAD 6-0

Grounder to second kicks off the inning, and Bolsinger is sounding (since we can’t watch) good. One-out walk puts a runner on now. Then a one-out single puts runners on 1st and 2nd with one out. A broken bat fly ball to left is the second out, and it’s a big out. Huge called third strike ends the inning! Bolsinger gets out of the little jam, onto the bottom half we go.

Culberson goes down swinging to start the bottom half. Noel then flies out to center. Hiram Burgos now on to pitch for the Brewers, which makes him the second pitcher today for them. Micah Johnson greets him with a line drive single. Puig then flies out to right to end the inning.

FIFTH INNING: DODGERS LEAD 6-0

J.P. Howell on to pitch the fifth for the Dodgers now. He strikes out the first batter he faces. Then a groundout is the second out. Howell then fields a grounder and makes the tag to end the inning. Good work by him. Halfway through the game now.

Rob Segedin leads off the half-inning with a flyout to center. Adrian Gonzalez then grounds out for the second out, and the first two batters have been retired. And the side is retired in order after another ground. Onto the sixth!

SIXTH INNING: DODGERS LEAD 6-0

Kenley Jansen now replaces J.P. Howell on the mound, and he’s the third pitcher of the day for Los Angeles. A leadoff single for Domingo Santana gets the Brew Crew started. Jansen then gets a pop out for the first out. Santana then steals second with one out. Lucroy then singles in Santana from second to give Milwaukee their first run of the day, but Lucroy  got thrown out trying to advance to second. Single and an RBI for Lucroy, and it’s now 6-1 Dodgers. Then a groundout to Johnson at second ends the frame, but the Brewers do get a run.

Alex Guerrero starts off the inning by striking out. Trayce Thompson then draws a one-out walk. Culberson then goes down swinging, so there are two outs now. A grounder ends the inning, and we head to the final third of the game.

SEVENTH INNING: DODGERS LEAD 6-1

Pedro Baez replaces closer Kenley Jansen. He gets Chris Carter to fly out to left to kick it off. A groundout to shortstop is the second out. A two-out walk puts a runner on for Milwaukee. Great play by Micah Johnson to flip the ball from his glove to first base to end the inning! TIME TO STRETCH!

Naturally, after a great play in the field, Johnson leads off the inning with a smooth single. Corey Brown goes down on strikes for the first out. A fly ball to center is the second out, and Johnson is still lonely at first. But a wild pitch moves him to second. Cody Bellinger draws a two-out walk. A grounder to third then ends the inning. Nothing doing there. Onto the eighth!

EIGHTH INNING: DODGERS LEAD 6-1

Louis Coleman is now the new pitcher for Los Angeles, replacing Pedro Baez after Baez threw a scoreless seventh. A groundout to shortstop kickstarts this inning, and only five outs remain for a victory. Fly ball to center field is hauled in by Noel, and there are two outs now. Coleman then fans the third batter to end the top of the eighth. Great inning by him.

Elian Herrera reaches on an error to start the inning. But a double play wipes him away rather quickly. Final out is a grounder to second, and that’s it for the eighth. Three outs to go!

NINTH INNING: DODGERS LEAD 6-1

Chris Anderson on to “close” this game for the Boys In Blue, but he gives up a leadoff single. Anderson then gets Garin Cecchini to strikeout looking for the first out. Two to go! Single to right field puts runners on the corners with one away. Force out retires the runner at second, but the runner from third scores. It’s now 6-2. Two outs down, though, and just one to go. Catchers indifference lets the runner take second. A walk puts runners on first and second with two outs, and the tying run is now on deck. Fun times! Called third strike ends the game! Dodgers win! Theeeeee Dodgers win!

FINAL SCORE: DODGERS 6, BREWERS 2

  1. I like that Bolsinger is competing for the open rotation slot. He has pitched well. Lee, Stripling and DeLeon have also looked good. Kazmir with his lack of velocity is down right scary they may have made a 48 Million Dollar Mistake with this guy.
Segedin looks to be a great pick up and Johnson and Thompson look to be great additions to the 4o man roster. I am sure they will start hte year in OKC but you never know it is a very long season…
