Dodgers Injury Update: Scott Kazmir Gets Examined, Andre Ethier Rehab, and More!

With the San Francisco Giants knocking at the Los Angeles Dodgers’ back door, who will answer? With the possible growth of the disabled list, fans are unsure what to think. Today, proved to be interesting for our troubled athletes as we got some information on the progress of their injuries.

Scott Kazmir, the Dodgers starting pitcher, left everyone wondering after he lasted just 2 2/3 innings on Monday against the Cincinnati Reds. Turns out, he was experiencing pain in his neck and back which was negatively impacting his performance. He made hints to this complication being a reoccurring problem. The pitcher was scheduled to get the problem looked at Tuesday. Hopefully this won’t result in a lengthy DL spot, but more will come as the results are out.

*Update*

The Dodgers announced right before the game on Tuesday that Scott Kazmir and Brett Anderson have been placed on the disabled list. Kazmir will be the 27th different man on the disabled list, which ties a major league record.

In relation to Kazmir’s doctors appointment, the Dodgers brought up Charlie Colberson. He will get the start for the series opener and is projected to do well. It is unclear who he will be replacing on the roster, though it is likely to be pitcher.

In other news, Dave Roberts announced that Andre Ethier might have a rehab assignment to then be activated in September, but the date is unknown. Despite his fractured tibia the Dodgers outfielder began taking at-bats against active pitching this weekend. Fans are crossing their fingers for a speedy recovery.

Brett Anderson’s blister seems to be a bigger problem than anticipated considering his performance against the Reds. His return from the DL has been difficult for him, and his start on Saturday was no different. Anderson exited the game in the fourth inning after throwing a pitch over A.J. Ellis’ head.

It is unsure if he will make his next start on Thursday. As of now, many believe he will not be able to carry-out the position.

Despite the injuries, the Dodgers still hold first place in the NL West. All are awaiting the results of the upcoming series against the Giants. Hopefully our boys are ready for the games and fight to keep their title!
