Player of the Day – Chris Reed
A controversial first round pick from 2011, Reed has had an up and down career to this point. A converted reliever, many (including me) believe he’s destined for the bullpen. However, his hot start to 2014 has silenced that talk, at least for now. In three starts, he’s allowed just 6 hits in 17.2 innings and he’s struck out 22. His control still needs work, but it’s hard to argue with his results thus far. To add to that, he held the Jacksonville Suns hitless for 6 innings yesterday, though the no-no was broken up in the 9th inning. It’s too early to tell if Chris has turned a corner, but he’s pitching well right now and has bought himself some time in the rotation.
