With the postseason approaching, owner Magic Johnson shared his thoughts about the Dodgers in a recent interview with MLB.com this past week. He believes the Dodgers have one of the best rotations in the league and have the defense and hitting to get through the National League.
Unfortunately, while shortstop Hanley Ramirez is expected to return from an irritated nerve in his back, the injuries are piling up. Yasiel Puig is out with hip soreness, Carl Crawford is out with a back injury and Andre Ethier irritated his already sprained ankle. All three players are all officially day-to-day with no timetable to return.
However, help may be on the way as Matt Kemp will join the team tomorrow for early workouts in hopes that he will be activated for their four-game series against the Diamondbacks. While there’s a chance he could return tomorrow, manager Don Mattingly is more concerned about the outfielder’s long-term health.
As the team looks to win their first World Series since 1988, the Dodgers have now fallen behind the Cardinals and Pirates and would start the NLDS on the road, as of now.
