Dodgers News: Adrian Gonzalez Talks About Dodgers Recent Success

The Dodgers were buried in last place about a month ago as they were 30-42 and 9.5 games behind the first place Arizona Diamondbacks.

While Yasiel Puig provided an infusion of energy into the team, it didn’t exactly translate into wins as the bullpen continued to falter late in games.

However, a 21-5 run in the past 26 games has seen the Dodgers jump into first place and Adrian Gonzalez told Bill Plunkett of the OC Register that it’s amazing the team is in first place:

“On the 21st of last month we’re in last place, 12 games below .500,” Gonzalez said after his three-run home run powered the Dodgers to their latest win. “Thirty, 33 days later — if you would have told me back then we’d be in first place, a half-game up and four or five games over .500, everybody in the world would have said, ‘No way.’

Gonzalez has been the Dodgers most consistent hitter through all the injuries and his eighth inning home run yesterday gave the Dodgers a 9-8 lead in their comeback victory over the Blue Jays.

To start the ‘second half’ of the season, the Dodgers have won five in a row, all on the road and are seemingly never out of a game.

Acquired last off-season from the Red Sox, Gonzalez is now hitting .300 with 15 home runs and 62 RBIs as he’s entrenched into the number three spot in the Dodgers lineup.

With two months left to go in the season, the Dodgers and Gonzalez need to continue to build off their hot play as they look to capture the NL West crown.

  1. Wasn’t Titan acquired midseason, rather than the offseason ????? Sorry, not trying to nitpick about irrelevant facts. What’s relevant is that the Dodgers are completely out of control. Hope they can keep it up.
