Dodgers News: Alex Guerrero Begins Season on DL

Hooray! More injuries! More time on the disabled list! Hooray! Candy for all! Okay but seriously this sucks. Apparently, according to manager Dave Roberts, Los Angeles Dodgers utility man Alex Guerrero will begin the 2016 season on the disabled list after an MRI revealed something not entirely positive in his knee.

The results of the MRI have not yet been made public, and they will be released later today, but for now all we know is that Guerrero has remained behind in Arizona to recuperate from his injury. Due to that, he will be starting the season on the disabled list and will take his time getting back up to the majors.

From Bill Shaikin, beat reporter for the Los Angeles Times:

No other information is available at this time, but it will be made readily available when it gets released. At first glance, it seems like Guerrero will at least miss several weeks due to this knee issue, but ultimately there is no telling how long he’ll actually be out for. It’s not a major blow, but it is a blow.

Guerrero hit .233 with 11 home runs and 36 runs batted in during the 2015 season. He did that in 230 plate appearances. Guerrero was going to be a utility player for the club this upcoming season, and he still will be when he inevitably gets cleared to return to action. The injuries just don’t stop.
