Dodgers News And Rumors: Clayton Kershaw Curious About Free Agency

Clayton Kershaw will more than likely win his second Cy Young Award in three years after an unbelievable 2013 campaign. The Dodgers hope he will win more awards and a few World Series titles while in a Dodgers uniform.

Kershaw will become a free agent after the 2014 season, but the Dodgers are hopeful both sides will agree to an extension during the off-season. However, according to Dylan Hernandez of the LA Times, Kershaw acknowledged he was intrigued at the idea of becoming a free agent:

I think any player, that’s the reward of baseball, to make it to that point. I think any player gets curious when you get close, for sure.

Just 25 years old, Kershaw will more than likely become the highest paid pitcher in baseball and it’s difficult to imagine a scenario in which the Dodgers allow him to test the free agent market. With all their resources at their disposal, the Dodgers know Kershaw is a priority.

During the regular season it was rumored that Kershaw was being offered a $300 million contract, but the talks never materialized. Dodgers ownership is confident they will get a deal done and hopefully it is sooner rather than later.
