Dodgers News And Rumors: Dominguez Optioned For Beckett’s Return

Josh Beckett will be making his first regular season start in close to a year on Wednesday night against the Detroit Tigers. Forced to make a move, the Los Angeles Dodgers sent down one of their hard-throwing youngsters.

Jose Dominguez was optioned to Triple-A on Wednesday afternoon in order to clear a spot for Beckett. Dominguez was brought up after Brian Wilson went to the disabled list with nerve irritation in his elbow. Although the 23-year-old reliever does have a lot of potential, he was expected to be optioned as soon as the next injured pitcher became healthy. He may find himself back in the big leagues if the Dodgers lose another pitcher to injury.

Beckett has finally recovered from his season-ending Thoracic Outlet Surgery, a bruised thumb and an injured ankle all within this past year and is ready to make a comeback. With the numbness in his hand completely gone, the Dodgers are hopeful that Beckett will be able to make an impression on their starting rotation with Clayton Kershaw on the disabled list.
