Dodgers News And Rumors: Hyun-Jin Ryu Injured In Loss

[new_royalslider id=”318″] The Los Angeles Dodgers began their three-game series with the San Francisco Giants with the comfort of knowing their top three pitchers would take the ball in the highly-anticipated series.

Hyun-Jin Ryu was the first up, however his night of work was cut short. The Giants scored four runs on Ryu with five hits in the first inning, which was the only inning he pitched Friday. The Dodgers announced Ryu was removed from the game due to irritation in his left shoulder.

The start was the second time this season the Giants chased Ryu. He was on the mound for the Dodgers’ home opener and only managed to pitch two innings

Ryu was twice placed on the disabled list this season with shoulder inflammation and later a right glute strain. It was not immediately known if Ryu’s latest injury would require another stint on the DL or if he’s likely to miss his next scheduled start.

However, Ryu did add the feeling in his shoulder was similar to what forced him to the DL earlier in the season. Should Ryu miss time, manager Don Mattingly said the Dodgers would turn to Carlos Frias to fill out the starting rotation for the time being. Friday’s loss cut the Dodgers’ lead over the Giants in the NL West standings to just one game.
