While Dodgers shortstop Hanley Ramirez is expected to return next week from an irritated nerve in his back, there is concern for Andre Ethier, who left last night’s game after irritating his left ankle.
Manager Don Mattingly will not be using Ethier even as a pinch hitter for the next couple of days and an MRI on Wednesday revealed a condition similar to shin splints, but on the outside of his ankle. With the Dodgers looking to win their first World Series since 1988, the team can’t afford to lose their players as the postseason approaches.
Nick Buss and Alex Castellanos were brought up to give the Dodgers more possible outfield options, but don’t look for them to get any serious playing time as Matt Kemp could be on his way back from a hamstring injury.
