Dodgers News And Rumors: Ryu Pain-Free, Ellis Ready For Rehab Games

The Los Angeles Dodgers placed Hyun-Jin Ryu on the 15-day disabled list after being diagnosed with inflammation in his left shoulder. Having suffered a similar injury while playing in Korea, the starter said he should be able to recover with rest. Ryu traveled back to Los Angeles to meet with Dr. Neal ElAttrache, and he decided that an MRI was unnecessary. The 27-year-old will begin a throwing program on Tuesday.

In other news on the injury front, A.J. Ellis is reportedly ready to start playing rehab games. After having surgery to repair his torn meniscus, the Dodgers catcher has had a relatively quick recovery so far. The last hurdle Ellis had to overcome was running the bases, which he again tested before the Dodgers game on Sunday.

With Kershaw set to start on Tuesday against the Washington Nationals, the Dodgers on the DL are working their way back to the roster. The team has managed to hold down the fort without a few of their key players, and once the team is healthy, they have the opportunity to be completely dominant in the NL West.
