Dodgers News: Andre Ethier Irritates Sprained Ankle In Dodgers Loss

NewDodgersNation_Store300x300[2]Losing to the Giants is always a tough pill to swallow for Dodger fans, but losing another player to injury continues to be a common theme in 2013. After an MRI revealed that Hanley Ramirez has an irritated nerve in his back that will keep him out until next week, outfielder Andre Ethier had to leave the game tonight.

Ethier muscled a double down the right field line in the eighth inning and as he came into second, he came up lame. After trying to convince the training staff to stay in the dugout, Ethier was replaced by Dee Gordon.

After the game, Ken Gurnick of Dodgers.com first reported what took Ethier out of the game tonight:

It sounds like Ethier injured the ankle in Colorado and had been feeling soreness before hurting himself again tonight against the Giants. Filling in for injured star Matt Kemp, Ethier has been one of the unsung heroes of the 2013 as he’s shifted from his natural position in right field over to center field.

As has been the case for most of the regulars in recent days, Don Mattingly has started to get them extra rest and it sounds like Ethier is about to join the club. Hopefully the ankle injury isn’t too serious as the Dodgers can ill afford to lose another player, especially an outfielder.
