Dodgers News: Brandon McCarthy Leaves Game Early vs. Cardinals | VIDEO

The Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Brandon McCarthy went into Friday’s game with a 2-0 record having posted a 1.69 ERA in his first 3 starts with the Dodgers. McCarthy had a strong outing on Friday vs. the St. Louis Cardinals before exiting the game early with a leg injury.

In Friday night’s match up, McCarthy went up against RHP Michael Wacha. McCarthy recorded a season high with 6 innings pitched.

However, in the bottom of the 7th inning McCarthy exited after throwing a season high 85 pitches. It appeared McCarthy had cramping in his right calf.

McCarthy’s night was done as Adam Liberatore comes in in the 7th inning vs. the Cardinals. For McCarthy, it was his longest outing with the Dodgers since returning from Tommy John Surgery.

It’s unclear if the discomfort is anything serious, but the last thing the Dodgers need is another player headed to the DL. Most recently, Yasiel Puig was once again dealing with a hamstring injury after exiting the game early vs. the Nationals on Thursday.

Fortunately for the Dodgers, Puig but could be back for the series finale on Sunday vs. the Cardinals.

The Dodgers will have Kenta Maeda on the mound for game 2 in St. Louis on Saturday before Scott Kazmir takes the mound to close out the series on Sunday.
