Dodgers News: Corey Seager’s X-Ray Results Negative

The Los Angeles Dodgers disabled list has been a constant battle all season. The Dodgers DL has been uniquely overcrowded this year, and the Dodgers received a scare on Wednesday after Corey Seager went down briefly.

The Dodgers shortstop went down during Wednesday’s loss to the Phillies for a brief moment, but stayed in the game after trainers checked on him. In the 6th inning, Seager was hit on the wrist by a 91-mph fastball thrown by Elvis Araujo.

Seager was told he had an arm bruise, but then underwent x-rays as a precaution. Ironically, despite getting hit by a pitch Seager still managed to hit a double later in the game.

The x-rays were negative, but it seems the Dodgers are being extra careful with their home run leader. The club is going as far as scratching him off the list for Clayton Kershaw’s Annual Ping Pong Challenge.

The Dodgers will have the day off on Thursday before closing out their home stand with a 3-game series vs. the Pittsburgh Pirates. Seager tells MLB.com Jack Baer that he hopes to play on Friday for the series opener. Manager Dave Roberts seems to share the same optimism.

“Corey’s fine, it’s just a little bruise,” Roberts tells Baer. “That’s as quick as I’ve come out of the dugout in a long time. I’m just happy to see he was fine.”

Seager is tied with Justin Turner with 21 home runs on the season and is the leader in multiple categories for the Dodgers.

The Dodgers are currently one game behind the San Francisco Giants and with the NL West up for grabs they can’t afford to have another player placed on the DL.

Due to so many injuries to the Dodgers rotation, the Dodgers pitching preview is still TBD with the exception of Ross Stripling starting on Friday.

The Dodgers will start their 3-game series on Friday at home vs. the Pirates before going on the road for 7 games.
