Dodgers News: Crawford To Be Activated Today

After a little bit of rehab down in the minors, Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Carl Crawford is primed to be activated from the team’s disabled list prior to tonight’s game against the Miami Marlins. Crawford hasn’t appeared in a Major League Baseball game since April 8, but he hasn’t actually played in one since April 7.

Crawford spent some time down at Triple-A Oklahoma City and High-A Rancho Cucamonga in order to prepare for his return. The veteran outfielder hit .364 with a .417 on-base percentage and .545 slugging percentage in 11 at-bats throughout the two levels. He had two doubles, three runs batted in, one walk, one run scored, and two strikeouts.

Top 3 Biggest Surprises of the Dodgers Season So Far

From ESPN dot com, via the Associated Press:

Dodgers: OF Carl Crawford (lower back tightness) will be activated off the disabled list before Tuesday’s game.

With the health of Crawford seemingly getting better, the hope is that he can help spell some of the other outfielders in an effort to give them a certifiable left-handed hitter in the lineup to compliment some of the right-handed ones. For instance, Crawford will be asked to platoon in left field once again while Trayce Thompson and Kiké Hernandez get the at-bats against left-handed pitchers.

The good news here is that the injury to Crawford wasn’t a lingering one, and that he was able to come back before the end of the month. It might not seem like a big deal, but just having your full allotment of players can be a pretty important thing for the Dodgers as they try to win their fourth straight division championship.

  1. Crawford and Pablo Sandoval are the biggest money leeches in MLB. They both should be ashamed to look in the mirror Money whores.
