Dodgers News: Dan Haren ‘Felt Great’ After Minor League Start Today

Right-hander Dan Haren remained in Arizona instead of making the trip to Australia because of a tired arm after a few starts in the spring. Today, he started a minor league game against the Seattle Mariners and threw 75 pitches in 4.2 innings.

According to Pedro Moura of the OC Register, the 33-year-old had his best start go the spring, at least in his eyes:

I’m really happy with how I feel, Haren said. I had great results in the big-league games, but I felt average at best. Today, I felt good. I felt great, actually – way better than I felt in any other start this spring.

Haren allowed four runs on five hits in his start, but wasn’t worried about the runs allowed. He was more concerned with how he felt and he now seems on track to start the season with the Los Angeles Dodgers as their fourth starter as expected. The right-hander stayed with fellow starters Zack Greinke and Josh Beckett to continue working to start the season in the rotation. All three should be ready for the start of the regular season in the United States.

It seems as if his tired arm has gone away and that he will be ready to start once the team returns from Sydney. Haren joined the Dodgers this off-season after spending 2013 with the Washington Nationals. He went 10-14 with a 4.67 ERA, but was significantly better in the second half after returning from an injury. The 33-year-old has made at least 30 starts over the past nine seasons and is expected to do the same this season. He joins Greinke, Beckett, Clayton Kershaw and Hyun-Jin Ryu to form one of the more formidable rotations in all of baseball.

A strong, healthy Haren will solidify the back-end of the Dodgers rotation and get them back into the postseason.
