Dodgers News: Dave Roberts Weighs in on Rumors as Trade Deadline Approaches | VIDEO

The MLB trade deadline is at 1PM PT on Monday. The clock is ticking for the Los Angeles Dodgers to make a move. The team has the day off and find themselves just two games back from first place in the NL West.

When asked about the deadline manager Dave Roberts said the teams focus has been elsewhere.

“[We’re] staying focused on winning baseball games … I don’t think we are holding out hope for any particular player.”

The Dodgers are rumored to be looking at multiple prospects from Tampa Bay Rays’ Chris Archer to Cincinnati Reds’ Jay Bruce.

While some fans will be disappointed if the Dodgers don’t make a move before the deadline, other might be relieved. Roberts seems pleased with the players the front office has put on the field for him.

“Im very grateful,” said Roberts. “We wouldn’t be two games back right now I assure you that. I think as a whole we’ve put ourselves in a good position.”

Aside from the players on the field, the Dodgers also have great prospects in their farm system such as pitcher Julio Urias. Yahoo!Sports writer Jeff Passan tweeted that the Dodgers aren’t willing to trade away some of their young prospects, while other reports feel a trade won’t happen at all.

As for Yasiel Puig, who was spectacular on Sunday’s 14-3 win vs. the Arizona Diamondbacks, his name continues to be in trade talks.

Roberts said he is trying to be “as sensitive as possible” to Puig’s hamstring and claims unless Puig is 100 percent he won’t put him out in the field. Despite the trade rumors and his continuous hamstring issues moving Puig might be unlikely.

Roberts also gives injury updates on pitchers Brett Anderson and Adam Liberatore.
