Dodgers News: DBacks GM Kevin Towers Has Choice Words For Dodgers

The Dodgers advanced to the NLCS last night with a 4-3 victory over the Atlanta Braves as Juan Uribe was in the middle of the action with his go ahead two-run home run.

As Uribe and the Dodgers were enjoying their off-day today, Diamondbacks general manager Kevin Towers was doing radio interviews to explain why his team decided to part ways with pitching coach Charles Nagy and first base coach Steve Sax.

On the Burns and Gambo Show on Arizona 620, the two hosts talked with Towers about the inability of Diamondback pitchers to own the plate and basically not retaliate when they disapprove of the actions of another team. Of course, the Dodgers were brought up and notably the September 9 game between the two teams stuck out to Towers:

You nailed it on the head. I was sitting behind home plate when they showed up on the Diamond Vision them stuffing bananas down their throats, I thought we were a punching bag. If i had a carton of baseballs, I would’ve fired them into the dugout from where I was sitting. It’s a reflection on Gibby, myself and the entire organization. They slapped us around and we took it. It’s got to stop.

Towers would go on and talk about another moment in the Diamondbacks season where Paul Goldschmidt was hit and how it’s an “eye for an eye” situation. This isn’t the first time Towers has complained about the Dodgers as he thinks their free spending ways are bad for baseball, especially after he was outbid for Yasiel Puig and Hyun-Jin Ryu.

In the September 9 matchup, Uribe hit three home runs and the Dodger player fed him bananas as he came back to the dugout as he’s nicknamed “monkey”. Relations between the Dodgers and Diamondbacks aren’t great as the several Dodgers infamously jumped into the Chase Field pool after clinching the NL West.

If the Diamondbacks want to extract revenge, they’ll have to wait until March 22-23 when the two teams meet in Sydney, Australia and open the 2014 season.

  1. Someone go call whine-1-1 for the Arizona Diamond”WAAAAAAAAH!”s’ general manager – he needs a wahmbulance.

    1. Maybe… But then again, for whatever reason, his response is reminding me of the worst GM in Dodgers history – Kevin Malone. I’d prefer a GM that stays relatively low-key, thank you very much…

  2. Great people talk about ideas.
    Average people talk about things.
Small people talk about other people.

    Kevin Towers, Coming up Small!

  3. He simply sounds like a sore cry baby loser, theirs a lot of those these days. . GO DODGERS!!

  4. fuck the Dodgers and fuck their fans if they or any other team did something like that in Dodgers stadium you fuckers would be crying and complaining too but you’re going to have something else to cry about when the dodgers get their asses kicked in the next round

        1. So you are admitting that You Douche-Back fans were CRYING and complaining, just because the Dodgers jumped into that pool…HAHA! I’ll send you a tissue to wipe those tears! I didn’t know ALL YA were sooo sentimental. Get over it! If it makes you happy, since Dodgers stadium doesn’t have a pool, i’ll buy one kid pool and put it your D-Backs dugout. HAHA!

          1. I’m not a d-backs fan just not a fan of a bunch of disrespectful overpaid assholes

          2. Get this into your thick skull the Dodgers r going to win the World Series so you better get yourself some professional help because you’ll be a basket case.Do it!!!

  5. He sounds ridiculously unprofessional! Theres a saying “What Susie says about Sally, says a lot more about Susie than it says about Sally.” Mr. Towers just makes HIMSELF look petty… People will always find something to complain about. If the Dodgers are doing poorly, they mock and say money can’t buy wins. If the Dodgers are winning then there’s no credit to the players or staff, they are only winning because they’ve got so much money. People love to hate on the Dodgers… Let’s go Dodgers kick ass in the NLCS!!!!!!
