The Dodgers seem to have a knack for making moves at the trade deadline or before August 31 and they where at it again as they acquired Michael Young from the Philadelphia Phillies.

While it isn’t known who the Dodgers gave up to acquire Young, he provides depth at all four infield positions. Young had a no-trade clause and had to approve a trade, so it sounds like he’s eager to join the pennant chase.

Ken Rosenthal from FoxSports.com was the first to report the trade:

So far this season, Young is hitting .272 with eight home runs and 41 RBIs, but at the moment it’s unclear where he fits in. Juan Uribe is having a stellar season at third, while Mark Ellis has held his own at second base.

It’ll be interesting to see how Don Mattingly will tinker with the lineup, but at the moment the acquisition of Young doesn’t seem like a natural fit.
