The Los Angeles Dodgers have been busy this off-season keeping their strong bullpen intact. Brian Wilson re-signed on a one-year deal while J.P. Howell was received a multi-year deal to keep a top-5 bullpen together.

GM Ned Colletti said that he was still in the market for a “high profile” right-handed reliever and wanted to add a long reliever. Free agent Jamey Wright was supposedly deciding between the Dodgers and Rays, providing the team with a long reliever. However, according to Dylan Hernandez of the LA Times, they found their right-hander:

The Dodgers are closing in on a one-year contract with former All-Star closer Chris Perez, according to a person familiar with the situation who spoke under the condition of anonymity because the deal hasn’t been finalized.

Perez, 28, spent the last five seasons with the Cleveland Indians, accumulating 123 saves the past four seasons. 2013 was a nightmare for the right-hander as he had his highest ERA of 4.33 and was arrested in June for shipping marijuana under his dog’s name.

Like Wilson and Kenley Jansen, Perez has a mid-to-upper 90’s fastball as he looks to re-establish his value as a solid reliever in 2014. With the departure of Ronald Belisario to the Chicago White Sox and Carlos Marmol unlikely to return, adding another power arm was a necessity for the Dodgers.

Chris Withrow figures to keep his role in the bullpen next season, but the Perez addition clouds the future of hard-throwing right-hander Jose Dominguez.

With him in the fold, Perez figures to pitch the seventh inning while Wilson bridges the gap to Jansen.

UPDATE: Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports on Monday at 8:12 am PST:

UPDATE: Paul Hoynes of the Cleveland Plain Dealer has the terms of the contract at 5:41 PST:
