Dodgers News: Dodgers Claim Peter O’Brien, Jason Wheeler DFA’d
On Monday morning the Dodgers confirmed that they have claimed Peter O’Brien off of waivers and designated Jason Wheeler for Assignment.
The Dodgers are the fifth team for O’Brien in 2017 already. Peter O’Brien has been bouncing around teams all year long hoping to find a place to make an impact. This year, O’Brien has played for D-Backs, Royals, Reds before eventually finding his way to the Rangers last month. He has struggled in the minors this year batting just 167/.254/.301 in 209 plate appearances.

Jason Wheeler threw only 8 and 2/3 innings for the Dodgers minor-league squad allowing 1o runs. O’Brien, 26, and holds down the outfield well, however it is unlikely that we will see him with the big league squad this year with the surplus of outfielders in the Dodger’s 40-man roster.
The red-hot Dodgers head home for a 9 game home stretch where they will see the Mets for four games, the Rockies for three, and they will begin the freeway series against the Angels with the first two games. All starting with Dodgers’ ace Clayton Kershaw.
