Dodgers News: Dodgers Don’t Plan To Activate Brian Wilson Tomorrow

After last night’s impressive comeback against the Mets that saw the Dodgers use the bullpen for seven innings, it was believed that the Dodgers would activate Brian Wilson from the DL.

Wilson pitched multiple scoreless innings at both Single A and Triple A, but he left Albuquerque and joined the Dodgers in Philadelphia. However, according to David Vassegh of AM 570 Radio, the Dodgers don’t plan to activate him before tomorrow night’s game against the Phillies:

The first person I saw in the lobby was Brian Wilson so he’s with the team, but isn’t going to be activated for tomorrow night’s game sources told me. Dodgers want him to throw a simulated game tomorrow afternoon as the they take BP. Matt Kemp should be apart of that. Strong chance that the Dodgers might have him throw another one before they activate him. They could activate him when they go to Miami.

Vassegh also said the Dodgers plan to try and keep Wilson interested after he blew away the competition at the minor league level and the hope is to see his real velocity against major league hitters.

While it sounds like the Wilson will be activated on the road trip, it’s smart for Don Mattingly and staff to see him pitch to major league hitters before activating him.

  1. The one positive thing I got from this article is that Matt Kemp is close to getting back!
