Dodgers News: Dodgers Hosting Rams 1st Pick—Should He Get A Pass?

On Monday night, the Los Angeles Dodgers open up a three game series with the Colorado Rockies. On Tuesday, Dodgers uber prospect Julio Urias is scheduled to make his third big league start and his first at the friendly confines of Chavez Ravine.

But, he is not the only rookie from Los Angeles who will be showing off his arm this week.

Thats right, Los Angeles Rams first overall draft pick, quarterback Jared Goff will be throwing out the first pitch at Dodgers Stadium on Monday night. The Cal Berkley product will be under some pressure to make a good first impression in one of his first major public appearances in the city.

Dodgers News: Rams QB Jared Goff Responds Back To Yasiel Puig

If throwing out the first pitch wasn’t enough pressure already, Goff has a bit of a history with the Dodgers. Growing up in the bay area, Goff was a die hard Giants fan and sent out a rather unsavory tweet to Yasiel Puig a few years ago.

Thankfully, the newly minted mature Puig responded in a friendly fashion, offering an olive branch to the quarterback, and Goff’s response was equally good natured.

With all the excitement that Goff has brought to the city with the return of the Rams and the promise of a much brighter future, fans should be able to put the ill-advised tweet behind them. When it comes down to it, hopefully Dodgers fans will be able to see the potential greatness that Goff carries with and in turn, the potential greatness he can bring to the city.

Tonight we will find out if Dodgers fans have collectively moved on from the minor incident or still hold a grudge against the 21-year old. If the response to Clippers player Paul Pierce is any indication, Goff may be in for a rough night.

Goff’s first pitch will precede a matchup between the Dodgers Mike Bolsinger (1-2, 4.20 ERA) and the Rockies Tyler Chatwood (6-4, 2.99 ERA). Heres hoping Goff has a successful first pitch, and Bolsinger follows suit.
