Dodgers News: Dodgers Receive Award For Economic Impact In Los Angles

[new_royalslider id=”75″] It’s been two years since the Guggenheim group purchased the Los Angeles Dodgers and closed the book on Frank McCourt’s strenuous tenure as owner. Shortly after the completion of the sale, the new owners quickly made a bold statement by adding over $275 million in salary in a trade with the Boston Red Sox.

Before and after the trade, the faces seen most often, Magic Johnson, Stan Kasten and Mark Walter were assertive in their public remarks that the new regime would break away from what was seen under McCourt. Some of the change included lowering parking lot prices to $10, though it now will cost $15 if you don’t purchase it in advance, and stadium improvements both for the Dodgers and fans.

On Tuesday, the Dodgers received the 2014 Mayor’s Award, according to Ryan Walton of the Valley Bay News:

Walton reports the Dodges were recognized for their economic impact on Los Angeles:

Receiving the award is positive publicity for the Dodgers, who have been under some scrutiny for the lack of availability of their network, SportsNet LA. While the Dodgers aren’t directly involved in negotiations with the cable providers, leaving it to Time Warner Cable, the team has not been exempt from the frustration of fans whose cable provider doesn’t have a deal in place to carry the network.

Despite some of the recent negativity that has been tied to the Dodgers, on a whole, there has been nothing but positive improvements under the Guggenheim group’s control both on and off the field.
