Dodgers News: Dodgers Release Statement About Slain Dodger Fan

Details are starting to filter in about Jonathan Denver, the 24-year-old victim of a stabbing attack outside AT&T Park 90 minutes after the Giants won 6-4 last night.

Denver left the game after the eighth inning while the group he got into the altercation with didn’t attend the game and was seen leaving a nightclub. There were reportedly two altercations, but after the first, nothing went down between the two parties involved.

Two men, ages 18 and 21, were arrested with their involvement in the altercation, but two potential suspects still remain at large. Prior to tonight’s game, the Giants released a statement saying that there will be increased security at tonight’s game and a moment of silence.

However, not only was Denver a Dodger fan, but his father is a security guard at Dodger Stadium, but he wasn’t involved in the altercation.

Before tonight’s game, the Dodgers released their own statement about the incident:

The Dodgers are shocked and saddened to learn of the death of Jonathan Denver, who is the son of one of our security guards.

There is no rational explanation for this senseless act which resulted in Jonathan’s death. The pain that this has caused his family and friends is unimaginable. Words are not enough to describe our sadness. Our thoughts and prayers are with him and his family during this extremely difficult time.

  1. So very SAD Indeed… Security is necessary but even better is a Fully
Monitored Security Camera System and Radio’s for Help…. Its going to
come to a Point that Beer / Wine and other Adult Beverages may be
Band…. 1st time 2 years ago it was a Giants Fan and now a Dodger Fan
and neither one should have happened…. Now I read that it wasn’t even
at AT&T Park but still IT SHOULD HAVE NEVER HAPPENED…….

  2. If Jonathan was packing a gun, it might have been a different story. But this is, of course, California.

    1. then maybe more people would have died…if the killer had a brain this would not have happened at all

  3. It doesn’t matter where it happened it was an act of violence and it shouldn’t have happened..
