Dodgers News: Dodgers Showing Less Interest in Verlander
Trade talks are heating up, last night we saw a mass amount of trades go through which included Jeremy Hellickson going to the Orioles, and Lucas Duda going to the Rays. However, the big names like Darvish, Gray, and Verlander have yet to be moved. So where do the Dodgers stand?

Sources have shared with Jon Morosi that the Dodgers don’t seem too interested in a deal with the Tigers for Verlander. However, they are more interested in their relief pitcher, Justin Wilson. Justin Verlander has a heavy contract attached to him that can make him look less attractive to teams that aren’t looking to add an expense. He is also 34 and under contract until he is 37. Although he still shows signs of his usual brilliance there is evidence of a decline. They are several reasons for the Dodgers to not make a deal for Verlander.
Reports have also shown that it is very unlikely that the Tigers will trade Verlander at all. However, with the buzz going around about Dodgers’ prospect Alex Verdugo, I wouldn’t be surprised to hear that he is what the Tigers need in order to move Verlander. With Verdugo’s development, it is understandable why the Dodgers may be reluctant to moving someone who is star studded and ready to face big league pitching.

However, there is still likely a deal looming for the Dodgers. Gray is still believed by many to be the Dodgers’ best option. He is cheap, just over 3 million this year, and he’d still be under contract.
Another option is Yu Darvish. He may not be in the Dodgers’ best interest long term, being that he’d be a two-month rental, but he’d offer the Dodgers’ a lot of help as they strive towards the postseason. Rumors have also come around to possibly go after Marlins’ Dan Straily as a backup plan, should the mentioned pitchers fall through. The trade deadline is Monday! Stay tuned.
dodgers arent making any trades, because of their record the front office thinks they can do with what they have
