According to Dylan Hernandez of the L.A. Times, the Dodgers signed a former Arizona Diamondback to a minor-league deal:

Demel is a 28-year-old right-hander that spent last season with the New York Yankees Triple-A affiliate Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders and had a 1.72 ERA in 35 games. He struck out 65 batters in 52.1 innings and had three saves and also spent three seasons with the Diamondbacks. His best season came in 2011 when he appeared in 34 games and had a 4.21 ERA in 25.2 innings. Overall, he pitched in 72 games and had an ERA of 4.95.

He was likely signed for bullpen depth in the minor leagues and it’s unknown whether he was invited to Spring Training for a chance to make the team.

The Dodgers acquired another right-hander, this one via trade in the Rule 5 Draft.

According to Ken Gurnick of Dodgers.com, the team also made a small deal with the New York Mets for a pitcher:

The 25-year-old Rosin was taken by the Mets in the Rule 5 Draft from the Philadelphia Phillies then traded to the Dodgers for a player to be named later. The same rules apply as the Rule 5 Draft apply to Rosin, meaning that he must remain on the Dodgers’ major league roster or he must be offered back to the Phillies if the team plans to send him to the minors.

Rosin pitched for the Phillies’ Double-A affiliate Reading Fightin Phils and appeared in 26 games, starting 23 of them. He finished 9-6 with a 4.33 ERA with 96 strikeouts in 126.2 innings. He’s spent time in the minors as a starter and a reliever and could be compete for a long relief role in the bullpen.
