Dodgers News: Erisbel Arruebarrena Recalled With Juan Uribe To DL

[new_royalslider id=”39″] In last night’s 9-4 victory, Los Angeles Dodgers’ third baseman Juan Uribe was removed from the game after suffering a hamstring injury while legging out a double.

Uribe previously sat out with a hamstring injury, but managed to avoid the disabled list; however, this time he won’t have the same luck. It was not known whether the team would just use his DL stint to bring back Hyun-Jin Ryu, or if another infielder would be brought up.

The Los Angeles Dodgers officially announced the move via their Twitter account today:

Arruebarrena was signed this past off-season to a $25 million deal and is known as a defensive specialist. He was struggling a bit in Double-A, hitting just .208 in 25 games. The Cuban infielder had picked up the slack at the plate recently, going 11-for-29 since May 11. It in unknown whether the Dodgers will expect him to start or have him come off the bench, possibly as a late-inning defensive replacement. He is a natural shortstop and has played nothing but that position since joining the team.

Uribe was having a strong season for the Dodgers at third base and leaves the lineup without one of its’ most consistent hitters. Last night, he said that this hamstring strain feels worse than the last one, meaning he could be out of commission for a while. The team could decide to move shortstop Hanley Ramirez to third base and have Arruebarrena play his spot, but those decisions will be made in the coming days.
