Dodgers News: Expect Yasiel Puig To Stay With Dodgers All Season

While Yasiel Puig sent shockwaves through major league baseball with his four home run performance through his first week int he big leagues, he followed it up by hitting .500 in his second week and recorded his first career stolen base.

Puig was called up when Matt Kemp and Carl Crawford hit the DL and it was assumed that’d he go back down once they came back healthy. However, Puig has become the most exciting player on the Dodgers and according to Dylan Hernandez of the LA Times, expect to see him in Dodger blue all year:

“Manager Don Mattingly said he expects Yasiel Puig to remain in the major leagues for the remainder of the season. “I think there’s enough playing time for everybody in the outfield,” Mattingly said.”

The Dodgers will undoubtedly have four capable outfielders when Kemp and Crawford come back with the most likely scenario that the team trades Andre Ethier in an attempt to create a permanent spot for Puig.

There’s no justification that the organization can present to the team or the fans about sending down Puig, who has already done things this season that no Dodger hitter has done.

While Kemp sounds like he could make a rehab assignment in the coming week, Crawford seems a ways away from returning to action, thus keeping the outfield shuffle on the back burner.

Regardless, it sounds like the Dodgers have made the wise choice in keeping Puig at the major league level for the rest of the season and it’s up to Mattingly to make sure he plays everyday.
