First pitch of the 2014 season is quickly approaching and for the Los Angeles Dodgers, the roster continues to take shape. Dee Gordon appears to be the likely starter at second base and Clayton Kershaw and Hyun-Jin Ryu were named the starters for the two games of the Opening Series in Australia. Just under one week after sending down 10 players to the minors, Monday brought more roster cuts.

After today’s game, the Dodgers announced another round of roster cuts, including five players:

The Dodgers have seven Spring Training games remaining for manager Don Mattingly to continue watching his players and mulling over final roster decisions. Magill was used at the big league level last season because of injuries while Boscan, Harris Robinson and Frias were non-roster invitees.

The 24-year-old saved two of the three games he appeared in this spring and didn’t walk a batter in the 5.2 innings he pitched. With the Dodgers last season, he made six starts with an 0-2 record, 6.61 ERA and an awful 0.93 K/BB ratio.

Harris was thought to be somewhat in the competition for a utility role, but he had just three hits in 19 at-bats and clearly didn’t show the coaching staff enough. Robinson was the darling of the first week of games, smashing a home run, but with his inability to play any position other than first base, he was a likely cut from the outset.

Boscan was added for organizational depth while Frias was our number 46 ranked player in the Dodgers farm system. In his last appearance today, he allowed three runs without recording an out.

The Dodgers roster stands at 43 as there are sure to be more cuts in the coming days with Opening Day less than two weeks away.
