Getting passed up for a job is never a good feeling. Getting passed up for a job while being widely considered the favorite for said job… That’s almost cruel.

Gabe Kapler appears to be handling that situation about as well as anyone could. Here’s what he said via twitter.

This is as classy an act as you’ll see. The handwritten note speaks to wanting to do more than typing something out on a computer. It simply doesn’t get more personal than that.

As to what the note actually says, it sounds a lot like someone Kapler greatly respects and feels who deserves the position they won out. Given Kapler’s previous role with the team and amount of respect he’s showing here, it wouldn’t surprise me at all to see Kapler remain on the staff in some propensity.
