The Dodgers will begin the 2014 season in Sydney, Australia against the Arizona Diamondbacks and it looks like the times for those games are set.

On March 22 and 23, the Dodgers will take on their division rivals at Sydney Cricket Ground for the first two games of the major league season.

According to J.P. Hoornstra of the L.A. Daily News and MLBSydney2014.com the times could’ve been a lot worse:

Game 1 – Saturday 22 March 2014

Arizona Diamondbacks v Los Angeles Dodgers                    First Pitch:   7:15pm

Game 2 – Sunday 23 March 2014

Arizona Diamondbacks v Los Angeles Dodgers                    First Pitch:  1:15pm

Game 1 will be at 10:15 pm PST on March 21 and Game 2 will be at 4:15 p.m PST on March 22.  The times are relatively manageable for Dodger fans, especially considering the 10:15 pm start will be on a Friday night. The Saturday 4:15 pm is very close to a normal start time at Dodger Stadium for the Dodgers.

The Dodgers will start Spring Training earlier than usual this season because of the games in Australia. The team will play two regular season games in Sydney, return home for three exhibition games against the Angels and then resume the regular season on the road against the San Diego Padres.

This will be the first time that MLB regular season games will be played in Australia, as the league tries to expand its reach into more countries. Players from the Dodgers and Diamondbacks have been making the trip to Australia to promote the event including A.J. Ellis and Patrick Corbin.
