This time of year, it’s really easy to focus solely on player movement, coaching transitions and all other kinds of personnel decisions.
The Los Angeles Dodgers do, however, have a few guys coming back from injury, and getting them healthy again would be something close to a free agent signing.
Case in point: Yasmani Grandal, whose playing level plummeted as his should worsened late in the season.
Thursday, though, Grandal offered an update on his recovery from shoulder surgery.
#Dodgers Grandal on shoulder: “it’s been great, we’re ahead of schedule, mobility and strength wise, it’s great”

This is obviously great news, given Grandal’s upside and defensive abilities behind home plate. While A.J. Ellis obviously finished the season exceedingly strong, Grandal is simply more talent at this stage in their careers.
The Dodgers will obviously need both Grandal and Ellis, who are both arbitration-eligible. Grandal’s update undeniably important, though, both for him individually and for the Dodgers collectively.
