Dodgers News: Grant Dayton to DL; Scott Van Slyke Recalled

It was announced earlier Thursday morning that Grant Dayton will make a trip to the disabled list with a stiff neck.

Grant Dayton has been a steady arm for the Dodgers’ bullpen with a 3.63 ERA and 20 strikeouts in 22.1 innings pitched. To fill in the empty spot, Scott Van Slyke has been brought up to provide the Dodgers’ lineup with a rest; Bellinger with the day off yesterday.

Van Slyke is batting just .233 in the minors this year and is batting .122 with 2 home runs in the bigs. It is not likely that he will spend much time with the team, but will likely serve as a backup first baseman to Cody Bellinger.

The Dodgers completed the sweep against the second place D-Backs and look to continue their hot streak as the Kansas City Royals come to town.
