Dodgers News: Hanley Ramirez Patiently Awaits Return To Form

[new_royalslider id=”5″] After a rough weekend and what has been a rough start to the 2014 campaign, many have become skeptical about whether the Los Angeles Dodgers can return to the success they experienced last season.

Having lost six of their last eight series, the Dodgers find themselves one game above .500 and trailing the first-place San Francisco Giants by five games. As the team approaches the one year anniversary from when Cuban sensation Yasiel Puig burst on to the scene, many of the Dodgers are waiting for that spark to happen once more.

According to Dylan Hernandez of the Los Angeles Times, shortstop Hanley Ramirez continues to be patient and wait for his and the team’s fortunes to turn around:

“I’m just waiting for my month. First for my week, then for my month. Our month.”

After being undoubtedly the best player in baseball after last season’s All-Star break, Ramirez has gotten off to somewhat of a slow start as he is hitting just .251 with only six home runs. However, Ramirez is not the only Dodger struggling.

The bullpen struggles have been well documented, and the injury bug has taken its toll as Clayton Kershaw and A.J. Ellis have just recently returned to the lineup after a month’s absence, while Hyun-Jin Ryu is scheduled to rejoin the rotation Wednesday.

While the Dodgers have recently lost more series than they’ve won and are fresh off a disappointing three-game set against the Arizona Diamondbacks, Ramirez remains optimistic moving forward:

“We’re going to get hot,” Ramirez said. “What we need is one win, then go from there. In a couple of games, we’ll be right there.”

At this point in the season, there is no need to panic as there is plenty of baseball to still be played, but the bullpen’s issues need to be addressed and players need to get healthy, in order for the Dodgers to go on another magical run like they did a season ago.
