Dodgers News: Hyun-Jin Ryu Will Make Spring Training Debut Friday

Hyun-Jin Ryu has been facing live batters. Now he’s ready for game action.

Ryu will appear in his first spring training game this Friday, according to Bill Shaikin of the Los Angeles Times.

Ryu came to camp feeling healthy and in great shape after spending a couple of weeks in Japan rehabbing. It’s been a disappointing string of events for Ryu, who has pitched one game in the last two seasons.

Taking the mound is obviously the biggest step in Ryu’s recovery. He and Scott Kazmir were both scheduled to return last week. Kazmir made his start while Ryu threw a sim game. Ryu’s velocity was hovering around the mid-80s at the start of camp.

Andrew Friedman has previously said any production the organization gets from Ryu is a bonus. Ryu has made it clear he’s aiming to retake his rotation spot.

Corey Seager should be ready to go by tomorrow
