Dodgers News: Jimmy Rollins Not Concerned With Offensive Woes

After going almost two years without a four-game losing streak, the Los Angeles Dodgers have suffered two four-game skids in the past couple weeks.

While pitching faltered in the first losing streak, the offense has gone quiet this time around as the Dodgers scored just seven runs in their last four games (two games against the Oakland Athletics and two against the Houston Astros).

In their series opener against the Astros, the Dodgers failed to record a hit as right-hander Mike Fiers threw the 18th no-hitter in Astros history. Since the All-Star break, Los Angeles’ offense has put up fewer than four runs per game, which ranks third-worst in the National League which is a drastic turnaround considering before the break, it was fourth-best in the league.

According to Pedro Moura of the OC Register, veteran shortstop Jimmy Rollins is not concerned with the team’s recent offensive woes:

Concern?” Rollins responded. “There’s no concern. It happens. You get through it, you don’t let it hold you down. It’d be nice to string some hits together with some runs in it and ultimately get a win. But, fortunately, at the end of the day, we’re still in first place.”

Rollins has been one of the team’s better hitters in the second half, slashing .256/.308/.438 with four home runs and 10 RBIs heading into Sunday’s three-game series finale against the Astros.

With his double play partner from Philadelphia Chase Utley now joining him in Los Angeles, the Dodgers have a strong veteran presence up the middle infield and in the locker room that should help come September, a key month in Rollins’ eyes, and in the postseason.

Despite the recent losing streak, the Dodgers haven’t slid out of first place in the National League West, though the San Francisco Giants have closed the gap.

  1. Dear dodgersnation admin…it has become almost impossible to read any articles on this site. Almost as soon as an article loads, it switches my phone automatically to the App Store and changes the web page with the article to an advertisement. This happens several times per article. I understand that ads pay the bills and keep a site free…but if it’s this hard to read the website content, why would users continue to come and view the site? (And ads)

      1. I guess so. I go to DN on my phone. If there’s some different address I don’t know it.

  2. Dodger offense is bad but the BP is FREAKIN HORRIBLE!!!!!!!!! Even if we make the playoffs it won’t last with our shitty BP.
