Dodgers News: Josh Beckett Named NL Co-Player Of The Week

[new_royalslider id=”149″] Josh Beckett’s 2014 season has been a reclamation of sorts for the right-hander, who is 3-1 with a 2.43 ERA as the Los Angeles Dodgers’ fifth starter. During Spring Training, Beckett was working his way back from surgery to treat TOS, then had a clubhouse door slam shut on this thumb, which resulted in the pitcher being placed on the disabled list.

Beckett made his regular season debut April 9 against the Detroit Tigers and started four games before earning a decision, which was a loss. It wasn’t until Beckett’s seventh start that Beckett got a win. In a week that included a no-hitter, Beckett was named the the National League Co-Player of The Week, according to the Dodgers:

Beckett threw 128 pitches in his first career no-hitter that was capped off with a strikeout of Chase Utley. Beckett’s next scheduled start is Friday against Francisco Liriano of the Pittsburgh Pirates.

The Dodger right-hander and Liriano both have a no-hitter in their careers that was caught by Drew Butera. Beckett shares the player of the week honor with St. Louis Cardinal starter Adam Wainwright. For the Dodgers, it’s the second consecutive week a player has been honored, with Yasiel Puig being recognized last week.
