Dodgers News: Julio Urias to Start Sunday vs. Giants | VIDEO

The Los Angeles Dodgers will begin a 3-game series vs. the San Francisco Giants on Friday. The Dodgers are coming off a 1-0 loss to the Colorado Rockies in a game where Kenta Maeda had a career-high in strikeouts.

The Dodgers have a day off on Thursday and hope to make progress in the NL West where they currently stand at No. 2.

After an impressive home debut by Dodger pitcher Julio Urias vs. the Rockies, manager Dave Roberts said after the game he earned another starting opportunity.

Originally Urias was suppose to start vs. the Arizona Diamondbacks, but things have changed.

From Bill Plunkett, OC Register writer:

“Obviously, those opponents are tough,” Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said. “They’re some of the best teams in baseball. I know we believe if he (Urias) does what he can do and executes — which he’s been doing better every start — he can get anybody out.

“It’s going to be a great environment, a great atmosphere and we expect he rises to the occasion.”

This will be Urias third start for the Dodgers on the road. This is great news for Dodger fans as the Giants-Dodgers game will be featured nationally on ESPN as part of Sunday Night Baseball.
