Dodgers News: Kershaw Throws Bullpen and Expected Return

When Clayton Kershaw was sent to the disabled list on the 30th of June, the world turned upside-down. Fans assumed the worst and prepared for not only a season ending injury for Kershaw, but also a lost 2016 season for the Dodgers as a whole. Luckily, the assumptions were false and the Dodgers have done amazing holding up the fort while Kershaw is away, specifically the bullpen.

In the month of July, the pitching staff (including starters) has a 3.35 ERA and a 1.1 WHIP, going 6-3!

Well, these solid numbers are about to get even better with the return of the MVP, Clayton Kershaw.

On Sunday, Kershaw threw his first bullpen session since going on the disabled list. This is a great sign because it shows that his recovery is going a lot faster than anticipated.

Before you start cheering for joy, there’s a catch. Although he is already throwing bullpen sessions, there is still no set date for his return. Many were hoping that he would be fine to return after the All-Star break being that it was only a 15-day DL, but sources confirmed that he will not.

All we can do now is hope that Kershaw’s bullpen sessions going forward show that he is healthy and ready to return.

Like I stated earlier, the Dodgers have been doing quite well even without the MVP, so just imagine how well they will do once he returns! Get well soon, Kersh!
