Dodgers News: KTLA Will Officially Air 10 Dodgers Games in 2017

Baby steps.

The previously reported agreement with KTLA-TV (channel 5) to broadcast 10 Dodgers games is official. The first game shown will be April 5.

The Dodgers television broadcasts (or lack thereof) have been a popular topic among fans. DirecTV is currently resisting a lawsuit against it for collusion. Essentially, the lawsuit suggests DirecTV colluded with other providers for a competitive advantage. DirecTV insists the price of SportsNet LA is outrageous and after being burned on its Lakers deal, it won’t meet those demands.

Charter Communications, which owns Time Warner, and the Dodgers hope this experiment translates to more subscribers for Charter’s Spectrum service, according to the Los Angeles Times.

KTLA showing 10 games is better than nothing for the fans. It’s not the news the fan base seems to eternally hope for, but maybe it’s a start.
