Dodgers News: Kyle Jensen Clears Waivers, Heads To Triple-A

It’s understandable if a casual fan has lost track of the Los Angles Dodgers roster this offseason, as there has been a handful of deals with even more players moving around.

There have been a few players that became Dodgers only to be traded or released shortly after the acquisition. Andrew Heaney and Zach Eflin are two pitching prospects that were Dodgers for less than 24 hours and then traded to the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim and Philadelphia Phillies, respectively. Ryan Jackson and Ryan Lavarnway were claimed by the Dodgers before being designated for assignment a short time after. Another player that seemed to be heading toward the same fate was Kyle Jensen, who was designated for assignment in order to make room for Jimmy Rollins.

On Tuesday, the Dodgers announced that Jensen cleared waivers and was outrighted to Triple-A. He will join the Oklahoma City Dodgers roster.

Jensen was acquired from the Miami Marlins back in Novemeber for minor-league pitcher Craig Stem. He has yet to reach the majors in his career, but could potentially fill a need for the Dodgers this year in case of injury. In six seasons in the minors, he has hit a combined .262 with 128 home runs. Jensen had a strong season in Triple-A in 2014, hitting .260 with 27 home runs and 92 RBIs. The 26-year-old can play the corners in the outfield and first base. While he might not make the Opening Day roster for the Dodgers, Jensen could find himself in Los Angeles this year at some point if need be.

  1. This post not about this move……but I would like to see who out there can answer this trivia question…..Dodgers have 10 retired numbers….1…2….4…19….20….24….32….39….42….and 53……who if any were the last players to wear that number before it was retired…some answers are obvious….but then again you might get fooled…
