Dodgers News: LA Kings, Stanley Cup Will Visit Dodger Stadium Tuesday

[new_royalslider id=”120″] The Los Angeles Kings completed their Stanley Cup chase with a double-overtime win over the New York Rangers in Game 5 of the Stanley Cup Final.

The Kings opened the playoffs with a first round matchup against the San Jose Sharks and were on the brink of elimination as they lost the first three games of the series. The Kings stormed back to win the next four games and then defeated the Anaheim Ducks in an exciting seven-game freeway series.

Next up for the Kings was another classic series with the Chicago Blackhawks that the Kings won the series despite losing Game 6 at home, by winning in overtime on the road in Game 7. Although the Kings dispatched of the Rangers in five games, it wasn’t easy as three of their wins came in overtime.

The Stanley Cup is the Kings’ second in three years and they will again pay a visit to Dodger Stadium as champions. Along with the Los Angeles Dodgers holding a night to honor the Kings after their 2012 Stanley Cup win, the Kings hosted a Dodgers night last year that included Jerry Hairston, Jr. and Brian Wilson dropping the puck.

With the Dodgers playing the Arizona Diamondbacks June 13, which was the same night as Game 5, Dodger Stadium erupted the moment Alec Martinez scored the deciding goal. A.J. Ellis addressed what transpired, saying the team knew the reaction wasn’t for Chone Figgins’ at-bat and Clayton Kershaw acknowledged Los Angeles became enamored with hockey during the NHL playoffs.

Pregame ceremonies to honor the Kings will begin at 6:40 with the Dodgers then playing the Colorado Rockies at 7:10.
