Dodgers News: Los Angeles Signs Former Giants Reliever Sergio Romo

That escalated quickly.

After Ken Rosenthal reported yesterday the Dodgers were one of two finalists for Sergio Romo, the team will indeed sign him, as first reported by Jon Morosi.

Romo will enter spring training the favorite for the eighth inning role to set up Kenley Jansen. Romo brings with him championship experience and extensive knowledge of the NL West – and the Dodgers-Giants rivalry, of course, having pitched in San Francisco since 2008.

A Southern California native, Romo grew up in a family of Dodgers fans. There was speculation early in the offseason both sides could benefit from a deal, and Romo publicly about closed the door on a reunion with the Giants last week.

Certainly this will add more fuel to the Dodgers-Giants rivalry, if that’s even possible. The two will square off 10 times by mid-May.

  1. As a lifelong GIANTS fan I have always liked him on the field and in the clubhouse. It’s going to be hard to hate him but since he’s now a Dodger I think I’m pretty sure I will be able to. Two weeks, can’t wait for spring training to start. GO. GIANTS.!!!

      1. Come on, Brad, leave the lame taunts and ignorant hate speech to MadBum. Dodger fans have more class.

      2. I preferr to call them the Vagiants by the bay. The frisco fags work too. ~~stay classy

    1. Almost as hard as it is for me to stomach him in Dodger blue………worst Giant as a Dodger…..Juan Marichal…I never did get over the Roseboro incident. Tom Haller did ok in LA, but Jason Schmidt was a total loss.
